Fixed and Mobile Communications Research has benefited from substantial enhancements of its infrastructure and facility. This includes PlymGrid, which provides high availability high performance computing platform from a leased fleet of over 2000 homogenous PCs. PlymGrid has enabled very large parallel searches/analysis—allowing previously-considered unrealistic computational tasks into feasible ones. We have used this facility to solve long-standing open problems on coding and also to search for best-known linear codes.

While PlymGRID is suited for batch processing, we also have a dedicated high performance Linux cluster made of 80 nodes for computations that require interaction between nodes.
