Portland Square - 12th October 2001.
Overview:

Latest overview of the site.

Here's a general view of the site, showing how construction on the three buildings is progressing. The steel frame for Building C has now reached roof level; the frames for Buildings A and B are not too far behind. Move your mouse cursor over the picture to see the position of each building.

Building C:

Building C.

Here's a better view of Building C. The final two storeys of steel frame are now being erected; all of the precast concrete flooring has been installed on the building's lower three floors. Precast concrete stairs have been installed in the north-west corner of the building.

We've also created another 360 degree panorama view of the site - taken from the south east corner of the third floor of Building C (move your mouse cursor over the previous image to find the exact camera location).

Building C; close-up view of mobile crane at work.

This view shows the tight working conditions for one of the two mobile cranes that are currently on site. The steel frame in the background has reached roof level.

Building B:

Building B.

The first two floors of Building B have been decked out with precast concrete floor units and erection of the next two floors of steel frame is progressing well. Stairs and lifts will eventually occupy the section in the foreground.

Buildings B and A:

Buildings B and A, with the University's Sherwell Centre in the background.

This view shows Building B (left) and A (right). The University's Sherwell Centre can be seen in the background.

Squash Courts:

Squash Courts building.

The roof of the Squash Courts building has almost been completed - you can see that the outer waterproof sheets are stacked on the roof, ready for installation once the thermal insulation has been placed. Work is also underway to weatherproof the walls of the building.
