Portland Square - 4th September 2001.
Overview of site - looking north.

Here's the latest general view of the site - move your mouse cursor over the image to see which bits of steel frame belong to which building.

Building B:

View of Building B - looking north-east.

The frame for Building B is progressing well. You can see however that every square metre of the site is having to be used to store sections of frame, floor, stairs . . .

Building A:

The main shear frame for Building A.

The southern end of the site has had a tidy, ready for the remainder of the ground floor of Building A's steel framework to be erected. Here is a view of what's been built so far - this is the building's main portal frame.

New Squash Courts

Ground floor of the Squash Courts building: exterior blockwork walls being built.

Work is continuing on the new Squash Courts building. This is the current state of the building's ground floor - which will eventually house the changing rooms. The floor slab has been laid and work is progressing on the external concrete blockwork walls. Precast concrete stairs have also been installed at the north and south ends of the building.

Concrete screed being laid on first floor of Squash Courts.

This picture shows the concrete screed for the first floor being laid - you can see that the concrete is being placed in strips along the length of the building. The vibrating beam on the left of the picture was used to compact the concrete and produce a smooth surface finish.
