"Plymouth Graduate is a Potential Leader in Civil Engineering."

Staff from the School of Civil & Structural Engineering at the University of Plymouth are celebrating yet another outstanding student success.

Steve Holmes, a graduate from the Master of Engineering (MEng) course at the University has gained an award in the New Civil Engineer's National Graduate Awards 2000. He came second in the competition which is aimed at identifying potential leaders in civil engineering.

He was awarded a prize of £500 following the results of the final round after submitting a CV and having an arduous interview with 12 leading civil engineering professionals as judges. Steve is currently working for Allott and Lomax in their Manchester office on nuclear installation works.

"Steve was an excellent student who will make a fine engineer," says Dr Clive Williams, Head of the School of Civil & Structural Engineering. "We are all immensely proud of his success in this prestigious national competition."
