Introduction
I am the Head of Building Programmes and have overall responsibility for the Surveying and Construction degrees delivered in the School.

I arrived at the University in 1992 with the mission to develop the exciting range of environmental building courses - Building Surveying, Quantity Surveying and Construction Management.

1979: BSc (with commendation) Building Surveying, Leicester Polytechnic.

1982: Chartered Surveyor, ARICS.

1983: Associate Partner, Elliot Son and Boyton, Birmingham.

1984: Senior Building Surveyor, Government of Bahamas.

1988: Regional Manager, HSB Partnership (Chartered Building Surveyors).

1992: Senior Lecturer, University of Plymouth.

1997: Fellow, Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors, FRICS.

2000: Principal Lecturer, University of Plymouth.

Teaching
My teaching within the School covers Building Principles, Building Defects, Building Performance, Health and Safety, Building Reuse, Environmental and Energy issues in Buildings.
Research
My research interests are principally concerned with the energy use in housing and environmental impacts. I am also interested in issues surrounding the safe use of toxic timber treatments.
Publications
Other Activities
I am actively involved in the admissions for the School's environmental building programmes, the dissemination of publicity materials, and visiting Schools and Colleges in the region. I am also heavily involved with the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) and I am their regional chairman for the final qualification test for graduate surveyors. I am involved with the RICS in their regional branch providing input and training for professional surveyors.
