The Faculty of Technology has a wide experience of delivering industrially relevant CPD (Continuing Professional Development) courses.
Both the Department of Mechanical & Marine Engineering and the School of Electronic, Communication & Electrical Engineering are Approved Providers of CPD by the IEE and IMECHE. Many of the courses are modules of MScs and are delivered over intensive 1 week periods. This format is extremely popular with industry and enables participants to attend either purely for the knowledge gained, or if required, can be used to obtain the Masters level credits on completion of an assessed project.
Flexible training solutions are provided to meet specific needs and during the last year "tailor made" courses have been run for both British Aerospace and ACT (Aerospace Composite Technologies).
Many of the speakers on the courses are experts from relevant industries, thus ensuring the industrial relevance of the training.All Professional Bodies now recognise both the need and the usefulness of updating knowledge and skills and with the continued emphasis on "Life Long Learning" the short course provision in the Faculty strives to assist with this.
