The
normal entry requirement for an applicant to be admitted to a research
degree programme is either a good honours degree, ie first or second
class, or a Masters degree from a UK higher education institution.
Applicants with a degree of a lower status, but with appropriate research
or professional experience, will also be considered.
Candidates
with overseas qualifications, or UK qualifications other than those
detailed above, are also welcome to apply. Such applicants will
normally be expected to provide references. Applicants whose first
language is not English will normally be required to provide evidence
of English proficiency. This is normally the IELTS (International
English Language Testing System) or TOEFL (Testing of English as
a Foreign Language). The IELTS is recommended by the University
- the acceptable score being between band 7 and band 9 (650 or over
in TOEFL).
Copies
of Educational certificates and transcripts and evidence of English
Language ability must be submitted with the application form. The
form should be returned to: C Watson, Faculty of Technology - Computing
and Maths programmes; S Locke, Faculty of Technology - Architecture;
Civil, Electrical & Mechanical Engineering programmes; or emailed
to technology@plymouth.ac.uk
