Similar to the Paignton and Dartmouth Steam Railway, the South Devon Railway runs near the River Dart for most of the journey.
The lines is approx. 7 miles long and joins Buckfastleigh and Totnes. I park the car at Buckfastleigh and board the train. You'll then travel down the line towards Staverton, where the train will stop. Along the way you will be running fairly close to the River Dart on one side and rolling hills on the other.
Once at Staverton you can either depart, or travel onwards to Totnes ( It's not quite Totnes, but near enough to walk to). The train will then turn around and travel back in the opposite way.
Once back at Buckfastleigh you will find a museum, several trains to look at, and other train related articles.
You will find the Buckfast Otter and Bufferfly Sanctuary within a very short walk away of the main car park.
