The Plymouth Pavilions is Plymouth's main multi-function venue. Situated within walking distance from the main city centre, and close to the Ferry Port, you will find the following there:
Large 'Fun' pool. Not really suitable
for serious swimming, it's more oriented for family fun. A large water slide
is situated in one corner of the pool, and in the opposite corner there is a
play area for the smaller members of the family. Various activities are organised
throughout the year, with a lifeguard keeping an eye on things.
The other main attraction is the kidney shaped ice skating rink. The rink is a reasonable size, but again, the shape may not suit serious skaters. Skate hire is available, and there is also a public viewing area.
Indoor sports are catered for in one of the two large halls. These halls also server another important purpose though.
Nearly all large music concerts and productions are staged here. Many of the chart-topping bands have been here at some time, and once inside the halls. it makes a fine concert facility. Some dates for this year are listed below, but more events are usually advertised in addition through the local press. They are also used for such things are job fairs, conferences and the examination halls for some of the University summer exams.
Other facilities include coffee shop, restaurant good disabled access and reasonable on-site parking facilities.
