MATS 231: Composite Materials and Structures for the Marine Environment
MATS 231: Composite Materials and Structures for the Marine Environment
Special Educational Needs and Disability Act 2001

There is a conflict between the majority of students wishing to have their notes in a compact form to minimise printing costs and the consequent effects on the environment, and the requirements of the Special Educational Needs and Disability Act 2001, ISBN 0 10 541001 2.  In that context, these pages have been compiled using black 10-point Tahoma font. The choice of font is guided by an institutional interpretation of SENDA suggesting a preference for sans serif typeface, tempered by a personal preference for Tahoma as I believe it to be clearer that the default Arial.  In defence of this opinion, consider two similar words:
Arial:        modem vs modern
Tahoma:  modem vs modern

The body text of each page has been compiled with the above font turned on immediately after the SENDA link, and turned off at the end of the page, with intermediate changes avoided wherever possible.  Thus by following the instructions below, it should be possible for users to customise the pages to their individual requirements.

Some material has been inserted using cut/paste from other sources.  In these cases, there may be formatting carried over from the source imposed between the above font switches at the start and end of the body text, especially in Tables.  I am working to minimise such occurrences, but would be most grateful to be alerted to any instances which I may have missed.
