Composites Design and Manufacture (BEng) - MATS 324
Accessibility

I have limited HTML skills and do endeavour to respond to reasonable requests for improved accessibility in respect of my webpages.  Please tell me how I might improve accessibility for your particular situation.

In the context of the Special Educational Needs and Disability Act 2001, these pages were initially compiled using black 10-point Tahoma font and were subsequently updated to Tahoma/Verdana/sans-serif font. The choice of font is guided by an institutional interpretation of SENDA suggesting a preference for sans serif typeface, tempered by a personal preference for Tahoma as I believe it to be clearer that the default Arial.  In defence of this opinion, consider two similar words:

modem vs modern       Arial
modem vs modern     Tahoma  (displays as Times New Roman on iPad)
modem vs modern         Times New Roman
modem vs modern  Verdana

The body text of each page has been compiled with the above font selection in the "Style" section, with intermediate changes avoided wherever possible.  Thus by following the instructions below, it should be possible for users to customise the pages to their individual requirements.

Some material has been inserted using cut/paste from other sources.  In these cases, there may be formatting carried over from the source imposed between the above font switches at the start and end of the body text, especially in Tables.  I am working to minimise such occurrences, but would be most grateful to be alerted to any instances which I may have missed.

Non-PC platforms

The initial pages were compiled on a Windows-based PC using (amongst others) Symbol and Wingding character sets.  I am in the process of converting such characters to Unicode_decimal.  Please let me know if you find a character showing incorrectly.  The following table shows the full set of characters I believe I have used (those in bold red do not display correctly on the Apple iPad: I have used a Windows font and would be grateful for appropriate suggestions for alternative characters/symbols):

Symbol (Greek) alpha beta gamma delta epsilon zeta eta theta iota kappa lambda mu
  Unicode decimal (upper case)       Δ Δ       Θ Θ     Λ Λ
  Unicode decimal (lower case) α α β β γ γ δ δ ε ε   η η θ θ   κ κ λ λ μ μ
