General Programme Structure

Background

Computers have made their way into a great number of activities, from entertainment and communications to business and medicine. Despite our tremendous progress in making cheaper, smaller and more powerful computers, these machines are still very traditional in their fundamental design and modes of interaction. There are an increasing number of new computer technology applications requiring solutions that go beyond the standard desktop configuration and modes of interaction.

Ethos

The programme consists of a number of modules that will empower students to rethink and redesign the human-computer interactive experience. The programme features the latest developments in interface design, system architectures and convergence of systems and platforms.

The programme links theory with practice, with a high commitment to project work. Students are encouraged to develop practical projects involving Adaptive Games, Computer Music, Evolutionary Computation, Information Visualisation and Semantic Web to cite but a few.
